This is a transcript of trial lecture held at the Norwegian Academy Music on December 14th, 2022, as part Ville Langfeldt’s public PhD defense. The subject given by committee was: “Holistic and ecologically valid aural training within culturally diverse music education contexts”. examined concepts holism ecological validity in light research, different teaching traditions, recent pedagogical developments, professional requirements contemporary musicianship. Implications for methods were discussed.
